The Email channel lets you handle emails directly from Platica. You connect your domain once and then create all the mailboxes you need (sales@, support@, hello@…).
The big advantage: each mailbox is an independent channel with its own agent. That way you can have a sales agent handling sales@yourdomain.com and a support agent handling support@yourdomain.com, each with its own personality and knowledge.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure you have the following:
- A domain you own to send and receive emails from (for example,
yourdomain.com). - Access to that domain's DNS settings to add the verification records.
Verifying the domain via DKIM is what allows Platica to send emails on your behalf with good deliverability. Without verification you can still create the mailboxes, but you won't be able to send emails until you complete it.
Manage domains and mailboxes
From Integrations → Channels → Email you'll see all the domains you have connected, their verification status, and how many mailboxes each one has.
If you haven't connected any domain yet, you'll see an empty screen inviting you to connect the first one.
Click "+ Connect domain" (top-right corner) to start the wizard.
Connect a domain
The wizard guides you through four steps: Domain → DNS / DKIM → Mailboxes → Done.
1. Domain
Enter the sending domain that the email will operate from (for example, yourdomain.com) and, optionally, a name to identify it within Platica.
Click "Continue".
2. DNS / DKIM
Platica will show you the records you need to add to your domain's DNS settings. Copy them exactly as they appear.
| Record | Type | What it's for |
|---|---|---|
| DKIM | TXT | Signs your emails to authenticate that they come from your domain. Required to be able to send. |
| DMARC | TXT | Defines your domain's authentication policy. Optional but recommended. |
| Inbound email forwarding | Forwarding rule | Create a rule in your email provider that forwards incoming messages to the address Platica gives you, so replies reach the platform. |
Verification can take up to 10 minutes to propagate. Once you've added the records to your DNS, click "I've added the records, verify". If you'd rather set them up later, use "Skip for now" and keep creating mailboxes (remember you won't be able to send emails until you verify).
3. Mailboxes
Create the mailboxes you want for this domain. For each one you define:
- Mailbox — The local part of the address (for example,
sales, which formssales@yourdomain.com). - Visible name — The name your customers will see as the sender (for example, "Sales").
- Agent (optional) — The AI agent that will handle this mailbox. You can leave it as "Unassigned" and assign it later.
Use "+ Add mailbox" to create several mailboxes on the same domain. When you're done, click "Finish".
Each mailbox is an independent channel. This means every email address can have its own agent with different instructions and knowledge, just as if they were separate channels.
4. Done
Your mailboxes are created. If you haven't verified the domain yet, remember to do so in order to send emails.
Click "View domains and mailboxes" to return to the channel's main screen.
Add more mailboxes later
You don't need to reconnect the domain to add new mailboxes. Once it's verified, you can create additional addresses (billing@, hello@, etc.) whenever you need them and assign each one to the appropriate agent.
