Connect an app
Every native app connects with the same three-step wizard: Configure → Test connection → Enable tools. The only thing that changes between apps is the credential fields in the first step.
To get started, go to Apps, open the app you want, and click "Connect [app name]".
Each account you connect is an independent installation. You can repeat this process to connect multiple accounts of the same app (for example, two Shopify stores) and expose different tools in each one.
Step 1: Configure
Define the installation's identity and its credentials.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Internal name (required) | Only visible inside the workspace. Use it to tell installations apart: "CDMX Store", "MTY Account"… |
| Description | Optional notes about this installation. |
| Credentials and configuration | The app-specific fields (see below). |
When you're done, click "Create and continue".
Credentials per app
Each app asks for different data in the "Credentials and configuration" section. Some examples:
- Platica — Your Platica API key (
pl_key_…) and the Channel ID of the associated WhatsApp channel. - OpenTable — The default country and city to search restaurants in (or the Mexican state code, 01-32, as an alternative). Optionally you can pin a specific restaurant with its slug (the one in the public URL
opentable.com.mx/r/…), its numeric ID, or a default search name; if you set the slug, queries go straight to that restaurant. - Shopify — Your store URL (
https://your-store.myshopify.com), an Admin API access token (shpat_…) with read access to products and, optionally, the public URL of your storefront (without.myshopify.com). - Documents and Code Interpreter — They run inside Platica, so their configuration is minimal.
Step 2: Test connection
Platica validates that the credentials work by making a test call to the service. If the test fails, go back to the previous step and double-check the data (an incomplete API key or a wrong ID are the most common causes).
Once the connection is verified, continue to the last step.
Step 3: Enable tools
Choose which of the app's tools will be exposed to your agent. Each tool appears with its technical name and a description of what it does; only the checked ones will be available.
For example, the Platica app offers three tools:
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
platica_send_template | Sends an approved WhatsApp template to the customer in the current conversation (reminders, confirmations, promotions…). |
platica_list_templates | Lists all available WhatsApp templates, with their exact names, parameters, and approval status. |
platica_update_client | Updates the information of the customer in the current conversation, automatically identified by their phone number. |
Click "Save and finish" and the installation will be ready.
Connecting the app makes its tools available at the workspace level, but it doesn't activate them on its own. Each agent activates the tools it wants to use from its own "Tools" tab.
Check only the tools your operation needs. The fewer tools you expose, the easier it is for the agent to pick the right one at the right time.
